OCD,
also known as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, is a common psychological factor
that has become one of the many disorders developed in children to adults. OCD
begins with actions that individuals feel they are compelled to perform or act
out, of which refrains from everyday tasks and daily routines. If an individual
does not perform this certain act he/she may begin to feel anxiety, fear, or
even commence to feel angry, creating impatience and oppression. Young
children, as young as five years old, were predisposed to OCD. OCD in children causes
parents to react like any other caregiver or guardian. Doctors, treatments, and
analysis are all part of a crucial process for complete domination over OCD.
For
Jennifer Freeman, the study's lead author, a successful
breakthrough was brought about after a discovery of an extensive test.
(Freeman, 2014) During the 14 weeks, families and children endured a
family-based relaxation therapy. The procedure consisted of reposed techniques
and a stress detox that were presented and practiced within children. All
children and families reported a massive improvement, behavioral wise, allowing
the brain to consume tranquility. Success rates and families that are in the
process of curing, are working this to OCD victims and being publicized in
treatment facilities. Albano, manager of Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety
and Related Disorders in New York, said, “"I think this is so
critical,". “And the people in public health should be jumping on this and
disseminating the treatment so therapists learn how to do this." (Albano,
2014)
