Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and the Church

Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and the Church

The sound of these words echoes loud to the church, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, to heal the broken hearted, preach deliverance to the captives, recover sight to the blind, set at liberty them that are bruised."

The body of Christ, the church has the responsibility of addressing the problems of substance abuse and mental health.Too often these problems are ignored and frowned upon by society as a whole.

The church is that light which shines in darkness to light the path so others may follow.Christians should follow the examples of the greatest Counselor ever known, Jesus Christ by exemplifying love and kindness to those who may be experiencing problems of mental disorders and addictions.
